After The Camp Fire

$300.00

On November 8, 2018 a wildfire was sparked in Butte County in Northern California. Driven by strong winds, the fire quickly spread eastward, through Concow and into Paradise, California. Many of the homes, structures, brush, and trees that were in the path of the fire were consumed.

I had 5 acres, a home, and an art studio in Concow. While I was not home on the day of the fire and thus escaped personal harm, the house, the studio, and many of my works of art were destroyed.

About a month later, we were able to go sift through the ashes to see if there was anything salvageable. Not much. But I did gather up some of the wood from my studio, charred by the fire. From these remains, I ground it into powder, and made watercolor paint from the remains of my studio.

This 9″ x 12″ watercolor painting was made exclusively from paint created from the ashes of disaster. It represents the landscape of Concow, California, after the fire.
