Oak Hills

California is the “Golden State” for two reasons. First, because of the 1849 gold rush that led to the state being admitted to the United States of America. And second, because the climate is such that there is little rain from late spring through late autumn, the hills tend to be “golden” in the summer time.

This original 12″ by 18″ watercolor painting reflects the rolling hills of golden Central California, golden in the summer time, with valley oaks dotting the landscape, with the Sierra-Nevada range of mountains behind them.
